All weekend
Reindeer Magic: Visit Santa and his reindeer, and enjoy kids activities, food, and more. Dennis’ 7 Dees locations. See event website for schedule.
Christmas Ship Parade: This parade of boats, each one decorated with holiday lights, sets sail almost every evening through December 21 on the Willamette and Columbia Rivers.
“Princess and the Pea” Performance (reserve tickets): Each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through December 23, see a live performance of “Princess and the Pea” at Theater!Theatre! (3430 SE Belmont, Portland). Go to the event website for information about reserving free tickets.
Friday, December 7
Portland Children’s Museum: It’s the first Friday of the month, which means admission is free from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Fremont Festival of Lights: See Santa ride down Fremont Street from 52nd to 42nd on a fire engine at 5:00 pm. Afterward, enjoy activities at local businesses. 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Beaverton Tree Lighting & Holiday Open House: Activities at Beaverton City Library starting at 5:00 pm, followed by more fun at Beaverton City Park including the tree lighting at 7:00 pm.
Camas Hometown Holidays: First Friday in Downtown Camas, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Tree lighting at 6:30 pm.
Tualatin Starry Nights and Holiday Lights: Lighting of the floating tree, music, kids activities, and more. Lake at the Tualatin Commons at 8325 SW Nyberg St, 5:30 pm to 8:15 pm. See the event website for schedule information.
First Friday Art Walk in SE Portland: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Multnomah Village Holiday Gala: At 6:42 pm, Santa Claus will light the Christmas tree in front of Village Beads at 35th and SW Capitol Hwy. First Friday fun at local businesses and horse-drawn carriage rides (see event website for schedule).
Saturday, December 8
Safety Saturday and Santa at the Historic Belmont Firehouse: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Free Family Day at the Washington County Museum: The theme is outer space. Make solar-themed ornaments, sample astronaut ice cream, and more. Hillsboro Civic Center (120 E. Main St, Hillsboro), 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
West Linn Holiday Parade: The parade begins at 10:00 am and will travel through the Historic Willamette District. After the parade, visit with Santa and sip hot beverages at the Willamette Fire Station.
Life in Space: Join staff from the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum to learn about the environment of outer space. Check out a real space suit and helmet. St. Johns Library (7510 N. Charleston Ave, Portland), 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Encore presentation at Kenton Library (8226 N. Denver Ave, Portland) at 3:00 pm.
Tuba Christmas Concert: More than 200 tuba players are expected to perform in this holiday tradition. Pioneer Courthouse Square, 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
Sunday, December 9
“Underwater Dogs”: Pet photographer and animal rights activist Seth Casteel will present his book at Powell’s City of Books on Burnside, 7:30 pm.
