Theater Group Masque Alfresco will perform “The Superior Casa Nova” at 6:30 pm at George Rogers Park Iron Furnace, Lake Oswego.
Friday, August 3
Concert at Millennium Plaza Park (Lake Oswego): Dina y Los Rumberos Del Caribe will perform at noon, 1st and Evergreen Streets, Lake Oswego.
Pier Pool (Portland): Admission is free every Friday through August 31 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
Portland Children’s Museum: It’s the first Friday of the month, which means admission is free from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
First Friday Art Walks and Gallery Openings:
- First Friday Art Walk in SE Portland
- Vancouver First Friday Art Walk: This month, the art walk is part of Vancouver’s annual art festival, Art in the Heart.
Washington Park Summer Festival (Portland): The Strange Tones (rock and blues) will perform at 6:00 pm in the Washington Park Rose Garden Amphitheater.
Dancing in Director Park (Portland): Dance the night away to the live music of the Alex Krebs Tango Quartet. Lesson: 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm. Dance: 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. SW Taylor and SW Park, Portland.
Movie at Laurelhurst Park (Portland): “Citizen Kane” will be showing. Pre-movie entertainment begins at 6:30 pm. Movie begins at dark. SE Cesar E Chavez Blvd & Stark St, Portland.
Concert at Tualatin Commons (Tualatin): Big Night Out (Variety dance hits) will perform at 6:30 pm. 8325 SW Nyberg St., Tualatin.
Movie at Beaverton City Park: “Up” will begin at dusk. SW 5th and Hall, Beaverton.
Movie at Willamette Park (West Linn): “Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind” will begin at dusk. 1100 12th St, West Linn.
Movie at Memorial Park (Wilsonville): “The Muppets” will begin at dusk. 8100 SW Memorial Dr, Wilsonville.
Movie at LeRoy Haagen Memorial Community Park (Vancouver): “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” will start at dusk. NE 9th St, W of NE 136th Ave, Vancouver.
Flicks on the Bricks at Pioneer Courthouse Square (Portland): ”Clueless” will start at dusk, with pre-movie entertainment by Laura Ivanice.
Saturday, August 4
Sketchbook Journal Walk: This walk through Southeast neighborhoods and Laurelhurst Park will include “sketching stops” with tips from a local artist. Bring a sketchbook and pencil/pen. Meet at Muse Art and Design (4224 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland), 9:00 am.
Fremont Fest (Portland): The parade starts at 10:00 am at the Beaumont Middle School parking lot, 4043 NE Fremont. Following the parade, enjoy kids activities, live music, pub crawl, and more. NE Fremont at NE 42nd to NE 52nd, Portland, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Iranian Festival (Portland): Live music, dancing, cooking demonstrations, kids activities, and more. South Park Blocks by Portland State University, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Dirt to Dinner: From the Farm to Your Table (Portland): A bilingual festival where you’ll learn skills that will help you make more economically, environmentally and socially sustainable decisions about food. OMSI Front Plaza, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Art in the Heart (Vancouver): Music and art from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Main Street and Evergreen in Vancouver.
Free Ice Cream (Portland): Head to West Elm (1201 NW Couch St, Portland) between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm for free ice cream from Scoop.
Obonfest (Portland): Japanese festival featuring taiko (drumming) performances, martial arts demonstrations, dancing, food, and more. Oregon Buddhist Temple (3720 SE 34th, Portland), 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Trek in the Park (Portland): The classic Star Trek episode “Journey to Babel” will be performed live at Cathedral Park (under the St. Johns Bridge) at 5:00 pm. Repeat performances every Saturday and Sunday through August 26.
Portland SummerFest Opera in the Park: Enjoy a performance of Die Fledermaus (“The Bat”) by Johann Strauss II at Washington Park Amphitheater, adjacent to the International Rose Test Garden, 6:00 pm.
Portland Festival Symphony will perform at Laurelhurst Park (SE 39th Ave & Stark St, Portland) at 6:00 pm.
Theater: “Twelfth Night” by Portland Actors Ensemble: Columbia Park, 1900 SW Cherry Park Road, Troutdale, 6:00 pm.
Concert at Autumn Ridge Park (Beaverton): The Twangshifters will perform at Autumn Ridge Park (NW Fieldstone Dr and NW 176th Pl, Beaverton), 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Tryon Creek Park Music Series: Connie Bieberach will perform at 6:30 pm. 11321 SW Terwilliger Blvd, Portland.
Movie at Brooklyn Park (Portland): “Footloose” (2011) will be showing. Pre-movie entertainment begins at 6:30 pm. Movie begins at dark. SE 10th Ave & Haig St, Portland.
Movie at Earl Boyles Park (Portland): “Kung Fu Panda 2″ will be showing. Pre-movie entertainment begins at 6:30 pm. Movie begins at dark. SE 112th Ave & Boise St, Portland.

Theater: “As You Like It” by Original Practice Shakespeare Festival: Lents Park (SE 92nd Ave & Holgate Blvd, Portland), 2:00 pm.
