Win Tickets to The North Plan, a Portland Center Stage Production

January 5th, 2012

The North Plan opens at Portland Center Stage on January 13, 2012. One lucky Around the Sun reader will win two tickets to the opening-night performance.

About The North Plan

After a ruthless cabal seizes power in Washington, Carlton Berg, a bureaucrat for the State Department, runs off with the new regime’s top secret Enemies List. Unfortunately for Carlton, the chase has come to an end in a police station in the Ozark town of Lodus. With a pair of DHS agents on the way, Carlton’s last chance is in the people around him: an unsympathetic police chief, an ambivalent administrative assistant, and fellow prisoner Tanya Shepke, motor-mouthed recidivist and alcohol enthusiast, who appears to have an attention-deficit disorder and thinks Skynyrd should be on the new money. Let the revolution begin.

The North Plan was an audience favorite at JAW 2010.

Warning: The North Plan contains strong language, loud gunfire, and may inflame your belief in conspiracy theories.

I really think plays are amazing, just the whole concept. I could add this to my have seen list.

I love going to see live theater, yet it’s rarely in the budget. I would love to go see this play, thanks for the opportunity.

I am fascinated to watch this story of polictical corruption, bureaucracy and someone within the system try to do what they think the right thing is. Also, I would love to see Wells’ interpretation of the Ozarks since recently reading and watching The Winter Bone.

Seeing a new play at PCS – what a great way to “make good” on a New Year’s resolution to enjoy more live entertainment…and less TV!

I would love to take my friend for his birthday. What a great gift! He loves plays.

  • 6. Peter Shafer&hellip  |  January 6th, 2012 at 8:54 am

well you get the idea.I want to see it to ensure my pacemaker is working correctly. And I hear this play’s got LOUD gunfire (blanks I hope, but live fire would be fine). I’ll be sure to bring my girl friend who can revive me if it’s needed, but she knows how to milk a dramatic moment really well, and so can wait until my unconscious, prone form has received enough attention to be a press moment of free publicicty for the play (again assuming it was not live fire and that there was no mortal wounding invovled, just a maladjusted pacemaker not stimming my heart correctly d

Not to stuff the ballot box or anything, but your comment field is limited… I had more to say… and as I was typing, it went blank… looks like it posted mostly OK, so that’s OK.

    Ok, on with the show!

    I want to go because:
    1. I love plays and never get to go
    2. I’m very susceptible to consipracy theory
    3. I’m a working mom with two little kids and would love a date night with my husband!

  • 14. Christy B.&hellip  |  January 6th, 2012 at 10:42 am

All I know that as soon as I read the description of this play I KNEW we would LOVE to see this – especially my husband!!! It looks HILARIOUS and really entertaining! We could very much use some comic relief in our life right now as life can get just too serious! This would be a wonderful escape for a couple of hours for us, and I hope we win!!

  • 15. John Bohlmann&hellip  |  January 6th, 2012 at 11:17 am

I want to see “The North Plan” because I’ve seen a number of plays at PCS and they’ve all been amazing. I’m particularly excited about this one because it contains gunfire.

Something to brighten up those “Winter Blues”.

  • 17. Brandy Ethridge&hellip  |  January 6th, 2012 at 11:39 am

I would like to win these tickets because I think this play would be a great conversation piece for my husband and I, something cool to share/discuss with our friends and encourage them to see, and just another great opportunity to check out what Portland’s theater scene has to offer for newcomers like ourselves. Thanks so much for providing this opportunity!

The Ozarks are where I would go given an insurrection and this play is an easy way to vicariously go there!

  • 26. Andrew Biddle&hellip  |  January 7th, 2012 at 12:20 pm

I am from the UK. I have been in the States on a work visa since January last year and have to leave in just three months. My wife and I have been using Around The Sun since we found it at the beginning of last summer and have loved where it has taken us. If Around The Sun recommends this play then I am sure it is great and I can think of no better way to end our Around the Sun adventure here in America than with a great bit of theatre. Thanks Around The Sun for making our time here so varied and memorable.
