Sept 1: Oregon Symphony in the Park

On September 1, 2011, head to Waterfront Park for a free concert by the Oregon Symphony, as well as performances by Portland Youth Philharmonic and Oregon Ballet Theatre. Stay until the end and be treated to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture and an elaborate fireworks show, complete with military canons from the Oregon Army National Guard 218th Field Artillery. Bring chairs or blankets for lawn seating.

$5 Portland Timbers Tickets from Plum District (Sept 27 Game)

The Portland Timbers Reserves will play the reserves from Chivas USA on September 27, and Plum District is selling two tickets for $10. The game starts at 11 am.

Interested? If so, go to Plum District to purchase the tickets by 11:59 pm, September 1. If you are new to Plum District, you will need to set up an account using your email address and zip code.

In addition, Plum District will donate 10% of your purchase to local nonprofit Schoolhouse Supplies.

“Portlandia” Crew to Film Trek in the Park and (Maybe) You

On September 10, an encore performance of Trek in the Park will be filmed for the second season of “Portlandia.” If you show up, you might end up on TV too.  According to the Facebook page for the event:

This performance of “Trek in the Park” is being videotaped for use in and in connection with the television series “Portlandia”. The videotaping will include audience shots. Anyone not wishing to appear in “Portlandia” is hereby advised against attending this evening’s performance of “Trek in the Park”. By attending the performance you are granting permission for your likeness to be included in “Portlandia” for all purposes, in all media, in perpetuity.

“Trek in the Park” is a a live, outdoor stage adaptation of a classic Star Trek episode. For our 3rd summer show, we present the classic tale of an alternate reality Starfleet in MIRROR, MIRROR!

Portland Center Stage is offering a $10 discount on adult-priced tickets to “A Christmas Story.”

Yes, it’s a play based on the 1983 movie! The show runs from November 20 to December 24, 2011.

There are three ways to order tickets.

Online:

  1. Go to http://www.pcs.org/xmas-story-2011/.
  2. Select the date for the performance you’d like to attend from the scrolling menu on the right.
  3. In the “Promotional Code” box, enter the code bunny and press OK. You must press OK to register the code before selecting your seats. The discounted price will appear as you hover over the seats in the seating diagram.
  4. Select your seats and follow the rest of the instructions to pay. Tickets can be mailed or held at the box office.
