PDX Bridge Festival (view the website in Firefox): The two-week celebration continues. Some events are free including a concert, book reading, guided walk, and more.
Trail Blazers Street Jam: Head down to the Rose Quarter to watch the 3-on-3 basketball tournament and enjoy music, a kids basketball clinic, a dunk contest, and more.
PDX Pop Now: Rotture will once again host this annual music festival featuring nearly 50 bands. All ages welcome.
Moliere’s “School for Husbands”: Masque Alfresco presents a modern adaptation of this play every weekend through August. George Rogers Park Memorial Garden, Lake Oswego, 6:30 pm.
Friday, July 30
“GrassRoutes Guide to Portland” Book Release Party: Celebrate the release of this nearly 300-page guide to our city. Illustrations from the book will be on display. Pix Patisserie and Stumptown Coffee will provide refreshments. Land Gallery, 6:00 pm.
Rededication of the Japanese American Historical Plaza: The event will begin at 5:00 pm with speeches and poetry readings, followed by a party at 6:00 pm. Live music, Portland Taiko, and more. Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

The City of Roses Resource Festival: This event promotes community resources that provide support for a variety of issues that Portlanders face during these difficult economic times. Learn what our community has to offer and enjoy live music and family activities. Pioneer Courthouse Square, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Shakespeare in the Parks: The Portland Actors Ensemble will perform “The Comedy of Errors” at Laurelhurst Park at 3:00 pm.
Sustainability Day at Tryon Creek Park: Learn simple ways to reduce your carbon footprint. Hands-on activities for the entire family. 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Ho’ike and Hawaiian Festival: Hula dancers, Portland Taiko, native tribal dancers, Polynesian singers, arts and crafts, and more. Esther Short Park in Vancouver, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Party in the Park in Beaverton: Enjoy an array of entertainment, games, and recreation at HMT Recreation Complex, including free swim, car show, inflatable play structures, drop-in sports, and more.
Oregon City’s First City Celebration: Celebrate the unique heritage and identity of Oregon City with art, wine, and entertainment all day. Downtown Oregon City, 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Camas Twilight Criterium: This evening of bike races begins with a kids race at 4:45 pm, followed by adult races starting at 5:00 pm. Downtown Camas.
Star Trek in the Park: Final weekend! See a live performance of the classic Star Trek episode “Space Seed.” Saturdays and Sundays through August 1 at Woodlawn Park, 5:00 pm.
Sunday, August 1
Sundae in the Park: Ice cream, live music, kids entertainment, “Avatar,” and more. Upper Sellwood Park, noon to 11:00 pm.
3V3 Street Soccer Tournament: Watch local community members kick it up at Pioneer Courthouse Square. The action starts at 9:00 am.
Bike Beaverton: Bring your bike to City Park for a bicycle safety rodeo and community bike ride, followed by an ice cream social. 1:00 pm.

Oregon Brewers Festival: In addition to beer (taster package must be purchased), the event includes live music, beer memorabilia displays, homebrewing demonstrations, free root beer for minors and designated drivers, and more. JAW: A Playwrights Festival: Final weekend! Portland Center Stage presents new works in progress that will explode your expectations of what live performance can do.
All-City Skate Jam: Watch youth and teens from PP&R- sponsored skate programs compete in various events. DJ, food, prizes, and giveaways. Glenhaven Skatepark, 1:00 pm.
Star Trek in the Park: See a live performance of the classic Star Trek episode “Space Seed.” Saturdays and Sundays through August 1 at Woodlawn Park, 5:00 pm.
“Much Adoe About Nothing”: The Ops Fest (Original Practice Shakespeare Festival) will perform this play using the same techniques as they did in Shakespeare’s own time, which means limited rehearsal; an onstage prompter; fast-paced, energetic acting; and lots of audience interaction. Fernhill Park, 2:00 pm.
Milwaukie Daze: The festival continues with a parade, carnival, fireworks, live music and other entertainment, skate park, and more. Events take place at different locations in Milwaukie.

Furnace Blast: Celebrate the completion of preservation work on one of Oregon’s oldest landmarks, the stone blast furnace built by the Oregon Iron Company in 1866. Music, refreshments, exhibits, furnace tours, and a blacksmith demonstration. George Rogers Park, Lake Oswego, 10:00 am.
Troutdale Library Grand Opening Celebration: Refreshments, a classical guitar performance, and kids entertainment including a visit from Curious George. 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Knights and Swordplay: Knights of Veritas bring the medieval Age of Chivalry to life through interactive educational demonstrations of arms, armor, combat, knighthood and chivalry. Tigard Library, 2:00 pm.
Kid Safety Tips for Parents: Join West Linn Police School Resource Officer Mike Francis for a free training on developing safety plans for your children. West Linn Library, 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

Shakespeare in the Park: Last weekend! The Portland Actors Ensemble will perform “Pericles, Prince of Tyre” on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through mid-July. Tonight, they will perform at 7:30 pm at Mt. Tabor Park summit.
Saturday, July 17
East Portland Exposition: This two-day community event features lots of entertainment and food, free health testing, multicultural fair, and free activities for children and families. Ed Benedict Community Park, starting at 11:00 am on Saturday and 10:00 am on Sunday.
Bastille Day Celebration Block Party: Live music, champagne sabering demo, dance off, grape stomping, and more. Pix Patisserie North Williams location, 11:00 am to midnight. Admission fee is 2 cans of food. For each can you bring, you’ll receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of 100 prizes.
Woodstock Festival and Parade: Enjoy a day of fun, frivolity and music from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Woodstock Boulevard from SE 41st eastward. Parade starts at 10:00 am.
Big Busk Music Festival: At more than a dozen outdoor locations in downtown Portland, bands will perform in this “experiment” aimed at saturating the city with the sound of music. 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Cafe au Play and Tabor Commons Grand Opening Party: This family-oriented event includes live music, bike parade, kids activities, and more. 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

East Portland Sunday Parkways: Explore East Portland by bike or on foot along a 4.5-mile loop, connecting Ed Benedict, Bloomington, and Lents Parks. Enjoy food, music, and activities in the parks and along the route.

From now through August, Regal Theatres will show free family movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00 am.
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and you can get them only at the theatre’s box office on the day of the show.

30 Hour Day: Watch part of this 30-hour charity event live at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Musical performances, comedy, interviews, and more. 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, and 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturday. (The other 10+ hours will be broadcast online.)
Outdoor movies: “Kung Fu Panda” will be playing at Multnomah Arts Center. “Extraordinary Measures” will be playing at Esther Short Park.

Tigard 4th of July Celebration: Live music and family activities start at 6:00 pm. Fireworks at dusk. Tigard High School Soccer Field.
Happy Valley 4th of July Family Festival: The event includes a guided hike at 9:30 am, parade at noon, fireworks at dusk, and a festival all day long. Happy Valley Park.
