<description>This Earth Day is bringing a different kind of renewable energy to the Lents Neighborhood in SE Portland. Too often referred to as “felony flats”, Lents will be rockin’ to the beats of neighborhood youth and the March Fourth Marching Band on April 24th.

With the support of the Jubilation Foundation and local musicians, the upstart Village Free School has partnered with Lent Elementary School and the Portland Music Company to create an event that intends to inspire joy and a sense of community in Lents.

Area youth are invited to participate in rhythm and music workshops from 10:00am to Noon. At Noon, participants will join with the indigenous performance group Danza Azteca and the March Fourth Marching Band to parade through six blocks of Lents. The mini-parade, will be followed by a public performance of Danza Azteca and March Fourth.

Workshops are no-fee, but donations of $3 to $7 per youth are appreciated. Proceeds support the Village Free School.
