  • Saturday Guided Nature Walks at Tryon Creek State Park: Join a park ranger for a free, guided nature hike to explore the forest and stream ecosystems and natural history at Tryon Creek State Natural Area.   • Fairly Stupid Tales: This play was inspired by the book “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales” by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith.   • Super Kids Resale: I tend to shy away from publicizing shopping-focused events in these weekly event posts, but I thought this would interest some of you. Super Kids Resale is a bi-annual consignment event specializing in baby and kid clothing, maternity clothing, and anything else related to kids.   • Rally to Support Oregon Historical Society Research Library: On March 13, the last day of work for the staff of the Oregon Historical Society Research Library, the Northwest History Network invites the public to join them in showing their support for the staff and holdings of this superb Oregon institution. From 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm in the park block opposite the library (1200 SW Park Ave in Portland), supporters of the library will give personal testimonials and thank staff for their work in preserving Oregon’s history and making it accessible. On Saturday, March 7, Tryon Creek State Park will host OwlFest 2009. The event features activities for the whole family including owl pellet dissection, book reading and signing by local author Keith Harary, snacks, guided hikes and a chance to meet Hazel and Julio, the Audubon Portland Education Owls. Hours are 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Admission is free.
