Library Challenge

September 9th, 2008

Update: See comments for more news.

According to the American Library Association, September is Library Card Sign-up Month.

To honor the occasion, I encourage you to find a way to use your local library even more than you already are. Challenge yourself!

If you don’t have a library card, get one, and research what the library has to offer.

If you haven’t used your card in a while, start using it again. Use it more than any other card in your wallet.

If you’re already visiting the library regularly, try something new. Borrow music or movies, if you never have before. Attend a class or an event.

Check the links below to find a library near you:

What do you like to do most at the library?

From the West Linn Library website: “It’s National ‘Get a Library Card’ Month! Visit the library to get your card or use your current one, and get a surprise.”

    Here’s something I’ve started doing…

I check out audio books from the library and copy them into my iPod (make sure to choose “copy to play order” or the chapters will be all mixed up). I listen to them while I walk. Not only does it allow me to catch up on my “reading”, but I tend to walk longer and farther when I’m really engrossed in a good story.

It’s nice to listen to while doing housework, also.
