Friday, August 29

  • OBT Exposed: Oregon Ballet Theatre dancers will be rehearsing all day on the South Park Blocks (corner of SW Park & Main). At 7:00 pm, the movie “Billy Elliot” will be showing. Visit the event website for more information.

  • Portland Movies in the Park: “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” (1971 version) will be showing at Holly Farm Park (10819 SW Capitol Hwy) at dusk (between 8:00 pm and 8:45 pm). Pre-movie entertainment starts at 6:30 pm. Visit the event website for more information.

  • Outdoor Movie in Vancouver: “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” will be showing at Tech Center Park (172nd Ave & Mill Plain) at sunset (around 9:00 pm). Visit the event website for more information.

  • Masque Alfresco will perform Moliere’s “School for Wives” at 6:30 pm on the Beaverton Library Lawn. Visit the event website for more information.

Saturday, August 30

  • Art in the Pearl: More than 100 artists will show and sell their work, musicians from a variety of cultures will perform, and adults and children will be able to participate in hands-on art activities. The event takes place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Visit the event website for more information. 

  • OBT Exposed: The OBT dancers will give two performances starting at 3:00 pm, and there will be a free drop-in pre-ballet class for 4- to 6-year-olds earlier in the day. South Park Blocks (corner of SW Park & Main). Visit the event website for more information.

  • Rock the Blocks—Art Institute 10th Anniversary Party: The celebration includes live music, interactive art, screenings of the “My Pretty Portland” Film Competition winners, and more. 1122 NW Davis St, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. More information can be found at the AI website and Neighborhood Notes.

  • Juice Jam 2008: This is an all-day hip hop park jam featuring live DJs, MC performances, live paintings on the Graffiti Wall, and more. O’Bryant Square (SW 9th Ave & Washington St), noon to 7:00 pm. Visit the event website for more information. 

  • Wilsonville Goat Appreciation Day: Wilsonville will celebrate the efforts of the 400 goats that were brought in to control the invasive plant species in the city’s parks.
