8/5: National Night Out Parties in Portland
August 3rd, 2008
On Tuesday, August 5, neighborhoods all over the Portland metro area will host free parties to celebrate National Night Out.
The purpose of these events is to bring citizens together with local law enforcement agencies, officials, organizations and businesses for a night focused on increasing crime prevention awareness and community spirit.
With this in mind, communities have organized a variety of different activities. For example, the Lents neighborhood will enjoy an ice cream social at Lents Park, folks in SW Portland will dance the hula at Willamette Park, and Glenfair is having a pizza party.

Also, OregonLive has brief descriptions of events in the Argay, Centennial and Woodland Park neighborhoods. The Sentinel has descriptions of events in North/Northeast Portland. And Neighborhood Notes has a few descriptions (Foster-Powell, Hosford-Abernethy, Roseway, Woodlawn, BWNA) and may add more. (I typed “National Night Out” in their search engine, which brought up a list of events.)
I also found information on National Night Out events for the following suburbs:
If you have more information on an NNO event in your neighborhood, please write a comment about it.
