8/1: Free Watermelons, Cantaloupes and Potatoes in Pioneer Courthouse Square

August 1st, 2008

On Friday, from noon to 1:00 pm, folks from Hermiston, Oregon, will be giving away free watermelons, cantaloupes and potatoes at Pioneer Courthouse Square. In addition, Hermiston and Portland city officials will compete in a watermelon seed-spitting contest. The event, officially called the Mayor’s Tailgate Party, takes place every summer, and all produce are donated by Eastern Oregon farmers.

You can read more about it here.

Thanks to Dave for the heads up. He’s got a great Portland blog, in case you haven’t heard.
