Free Events This Weekend in Portland: June 6–8

In addition to the events below, I also want to mention that Oaks Park is celebrating its 103rd birthday with discounts on ride tickets.

Friday, June 6

  • Rose Festival Waterfront Village: Admission is free before 4:00 pm. For more information, visit the Rose Festival website.

  • Egyptian Film Festival: Visit the Northwest Film Festival website for movies and show times.

  • First Friday Art Openings: There will be openings at 100th Monkey Studio, Press Club and Q Center. Also, go to PORT for a listing of more events.

  • Free Admission Night at Portland Children’s Museum: It’s the first Friday of the month, which means admission to the Portland Children’s Museum is free from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. For more information, visit the Portland Children’s Museum website.

  • First Friday in Multnomah Village: During this monthly event, shops and galleries stay open late and offer special events, sales and complimentary refreshments. 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. For more information, visit the Multnomah Village website.

  • First Friday Art Walk in Troutdale: On the first Friday of each month, businesses in downtown Troutdale host local artists exhibiting their works of art. 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visit the City of Troutdale website for more information.

  • Holocene Fifth Anniversary Party, Part 1: Tim Sweeney, Linger and Quiet, DJ Hanukkah Miracle and DJ Pretty Please will perform. 8:00 pm. Visit the Holocene website for details.

  • Grand Floral Parade: Check the Rose Festival website for route and time.

  • Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race: More than 100 teams will be racing in the Willamette River today and tomorrow. For more information, visit the Rose Festival website.

  • BlackBerry Curve Challenge: Armed with a BlackBerry Curve, teams of two will race through Portland. Great prizes for top 30. Participation is free. Register online or on race day (if spaces are still available). The public can enjoy entertainment at the BlackBerry Curve Challenge Village. Waterfront Park, 1020 SW Naito Parkway.   • Egyptian Film Festival: Visit the Northwest Film Festival website for movies and show times.

  • GO PLAY! State Parks Day: Tryon Creek Park is celebrating State Parks Day with an event for the whole family. 9:00 am to noon. Visit the Tryon Creek Park website for details.
     
  • Sunset Community Bike Safety Fair: Safety activities geared to elementary age children, and a $5 bike helmet sale. Sunset Presbyterian Church, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Visit the event website for more information.

  • Dungeons and Dragons Party: Powell’s is celebrating the release of the fourth edition of the Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game.   • Family Pride Event: Q Center and the Portland Children’s Museum invite all families with children to an afternoon of arts and crafts (bring a light-colored t-shirt to decorate) and games. 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Visit the Q Center website for details.

  • Portland Latino Gay Pride Festival: The celebration includes remarks by Sam Adams and other community leaders, local dance groups, vocalists and entertainers, and more. Jupiter Hotel, 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm; dance party at 8:00 pm. Visit the festival website for more information.

  • Gary Ewing Memorial/40th Anniversary Reunion of the Portland Zoo Electric Band: This all-day music event features the Portland Zoo Electric Band and many other local and national artists.
