Free Events This Weekend in Portland: Mar 21–23

The round-up is full of Easter-related events in addition to the usual fare. Admission is free for all events below. Have a great weekend!

  • Alpenrose Dairy Easter Egg Hunt, one of the biggest hunts west of the Mississippi, starts at 10:30 am with events catered to kids aged 3–8. Even moms will get their chance to hunt on their own. There will be prizes for all of the children, with the grand prize being seven 6-foot bunnies (one for each age bracket).   • Sellwood-Westmoreland Easter Egg Hunt will take place at 10:00 am at the south end of Westmoreland Park, opposite the parking lot area. Please bring canned goods for the Food Bank. 

  • 10th Annual Woodstock Easter Egg Hunt starts at 10:30 am at Woodstock Park. Kids of all ages are invited to hunt for eggs filled with treats and prizes. The Easter Bunny will also be there.

  • Children’s Egg Hunt in Lake Oswego: Children aged 0 to 10 years and their parents are invited to hunt for eggs in Westlake Park at 9:00 am. Bring your own basket. For more information, visit the Lake Oswego Parks website.

  • In honor of World Water Day, the Vancouver Water Center is hosting a variety of activities from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. The event includes a 1.5-mile Columbia River Walk, displays, presentations, films, hands-on activities and storytelling for children, and more.   • Spring Beer & Wine Fest is happening on Friday and Saturday at the Oregon Convention Center. Free admission from noon until 2:00 pm on both days. For more information, visit the festival website.

  • D.I.Y. Family Day at Museum of Contemporary Craft, 1:00 pm: Kids aged 4–14 will get the chance to make a magnet, button or book. Adults will be able to express their creativity too, using an array of collage materials. For more information, visit the Museum of Contemporary Craft website.

  • Frank Blair will perform at Borders in Tigard at 7:00 pm. For more information, visit the Borders website.

  • Lew Jones will perform at Borders in Gresham at 7:00 pm. For details, visit the Borders website.

  • Sig Paulson will perform at Edgefield at 7:00 pm. Ages 21 and over. For more information, visit the Edgefield website.

  • The Ramblin Jaks will perform at Rock Creek Tavern at 9:00 pm. All ages until 10:00 pm. For more information, visit the Rock Creek Tavern website.

  • Keith Schreiner will perform at Press Club at 8:00 pm. Press Club is located at 2621 SE Clinton St., 503.233.5656. 

  • Kaki King will perform at Music Millennium at 3:30 pm. Visit the Music Millennium website for more information.

  • Neal Donald Walsch will talk about his book Happier Than God at 2:00 pm at Powell’s Books, Cedar Hills Crossing. For more information, visit the Powell’s website

  • Delectable Designs with Cupcake Jones, North Portland Library, noon: Learn about the origins of foods like vanilla and chocolate found in this year’s Every Family Reads book, Yum! ¡Mmmm! ¡Qué Rico!, by Pat Mora. Then you’ll get the chance to decorate your own cupcake. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Space at this program is limited. Free tickets for seating will be available 30 minutes prior to the program.   • Russian Film Series at Midland Library will be showing Agony: The Life and Death of Rasputin at 2:00 pm. The film is in Russian with English subtitles. A brief discussion will follow. For more information, visit the Multnomah County Library website.  

Sunday, March 23

  • Bunny on a Bike Ride starts at 2:00 pm. Read more about it here.

  • The Church of Craft is having its monthly craft class/get-together at the Central Library from 12:30 pm–3:30 pm. This month’s class is Recycled Necktie Crafts. Seating is limited to 70 people, and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For the list of supplies you’ll need to bring and more information, visit the Multnomah County Library website.

  • Tim Scott and Joanna Blendulf will perform viol music by Marin Marais at the Central Library at 2:00 pm. For more information, visit the Multnomah County Library website.
