February 1st, 2008
Great news from the Portland Art Museum!
From the official press release:
Today, the Portland Art Museum announced a major gift to its endowment to fund free admission opportunities. Gordon D. Sondland and Katherine J. Durant, Museum patrons, have pledged a gift of $1 million, which will endow free general admission for children, ages 17 and younger.
Museum leaders anticipate that free general admission for children, ages 17 and younger, will begin this spring. There may be minimal fees for special exhibitions.

BEAUTIFUL. Education should be free to our youth. It shouldn’t have a dollar value on it- because if you can’t afford it then you don’t get to learn?
This is a Standard that should be upheld througout ALL public facilites of art, learning, nature, etc.
Thank you for allowing all youth to have an equal opportunity to be inspired ….
but just please drop the minimum fees bit
