Free Event, Jan 28: Local Artist Andrew Dickson Talks About Career
January 26th, 2008
Back in 2005, I had the privilege of seeing a live show called AC Dickson: eBay PowerSeller. Andrew Dickson created and starred in the role of AC, drawing on his personal experience as a successful eBay entrepreneur. With a PowerPoint deck and the swagger and energy of a motivational speaker, AC taught audience members how they too could get a piece of the eBay pie. I will never forget the feeling I got watching AC dance to Daft Punk’s “Around the World” while a giant screen showed live bids soar on Andrew’s real-life eBay auctions. I doubt if anyone left that night feeling anything less than entertained and maybe, like me, astounded.
This Monday, January 28, Andrew will be talking about his career in the creative world. According to his wife and author of one of my favorite blogs, Susan:
“Andrew will be showing video clips and photos of his past visual, film, and performance work and previewing some new projects as well.”
Susan’s blog also provides great photos and links to Andrew’s work.
The event is part of Portland State University’s MFA lecture series. All lectures are free and open to the public.
