Friday, November 2

  • Run On Sentence, The Builders and The Butchers, and Shoeshine Blue will be performing at Mississippi Studios at 9:00 pm. For more information, visit the Mississippi Studios website.

  • Micah Wolf will be playing at Edgefield at 7:00 pm. Ages 21 and older. For more information, visit the Edgefield website.

  • John Bunzow Trio will be performing at Rock Creek Tavern at 9:00 pm. All ages until 10:00 pm. For more information, visit the Rock Creek Tavern website.

  • Jason Goodwin will read from his book The Snake Stone at Powell’s Books at Cedar Hills Crossing, 7:00 pm. For more information, visit the Powell’s website.

Saturday, November 3

  • The 2nd Annual Vegan Holiday Festival is happening at Benson High School from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. You’ll get the chance to learn about the vegan lifestyle, as well as vegan resources that Portland has to offer. There’ll be children’s activities, cooking demonstrations from vegan chefs and dozens of vendors offering samples of vegan products. For more information, click here.

  • Jackpot Records is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a free show at Lola’s Room. Grails, Eclipse, Saturday Looks Good to Me, We’re From Japan, and Dark Skies will be playing. Sean Croghan will emcee the event. 6:00 pm doors, 7:00 pm show. Ages 21 and over. For more information, visit the Lola’s Room website.

  • Jean McGowan will be performing at Edgefield at 7:00 pm. Ages 21 and older. For more information, visit the Edgefield website.

  • Puddletown Ramblers will be performing at Rock Creek Tavern at 9:00 pm. All ages until 10:00 pm. For more information, visit the Rock Creek Tavern website.

  • Los Porteños, Portland’s new Latino writers group, will host a free reading of new works centered on el Día de los Muertos at 4:00 pm at the Milagro Theatre. Joann Farías, Olga Sanchez, Emma Oliver, Francisco Delgado, Catalina Cantu, Cindy Williams Gutierrez and Veronica Swehla will read new, original writing.   • Laurell K. Hamilton will talk about her book A Lick of Frost at Powell’s Books at Cedar Hills Crossing, 1:00 pm. For more information, visit the Powell’s website.

Sunday, November 4

  • As part of the Siren Nation Festival, there will be free workshops at Kennedy School from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Siren Nation is a festival showcasing women’s music, performance art and film, focusing primarily on artists from Portland and the Pacific Northwest. The workshops cover a variety of topics including music, literary arts, body image, Qigong, sustainability, biking, and even mask-making.   • Too Slim and the Taildraggers will be performing at Music Millennium at 3:00 pm. For more information, visit the Music Millennium website.

  • Caroline Oakley & Pete Leone will be performing at Edgefield at 5:00 pm. Ages 21 and older. For more information, visit the Edgefield website.

  • A reading of Steve Patterson’s new play, “Turquoise and Obsidian,” will be held at 7:00 pm at the Milagro Theatre. No reservations are required. For more information, visit the Milagro Theatre website.
